Great story ideas are not exclusive to writers. Anyone can come up with one or many. I often get unsolicited story ideas from readers, friends, and colleagues. But having a great story idea is light-years away from actually having a novel published. Ideas are cheap while writing is a skill that needs to be developed through practice, practice, practice. And it helps to know what you need to practice on.
